No Day But Today - Statement of Purpose

No Day But Today was setup to remember a friend, Matt Downey as well as raise money for the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke University. Matt lost his fight to brain cancer in October of 2006, but those who knew him will always remember his joy for life and infectious laugh.  A spirit like Matt’s will continue to last through the people who knew him.  The name of this effort comes directly from the motto Matt lived by: “No Day But Today”.

A few of Matt’s friends wanted a way to remember him on a regular basis and help the people who helped him in his battle with brain cancer.  To accomplish this, a Frisbee Golf Tournament will be held on an annual basis which will allow family and friends to come together.  All entry fees and donations will go to the above mentioned Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke University.

This modest event will is expected to raise between $3,000 and $5,000 annually.  The only costs for holding the event will be for the frisbee golf (~$100), T-shirts (~$600), and food (~$300) during the event.  The remaining proceeds will be paid out directly to the beneficiary mentioned above.
